Dwayne Cruz

Executive Director

 

Dwayne grew up in Sacramento and attended both Sacramento and Wheeling High School, he graduated in 1992.

 

From 1999 to 2004 Dwayne was the director of coaching and player development at Chicago United FC.  In 2004, the club merged and formed Kickers United and KUFC Premier for which Dwayne was the director of coaching. During these years, Dwayne coached teams to 2 Illinois State Cup Championships and one 2nd place finish, 1 U.S. Club National Championship and two 2nd place finishes. In 2006, Dwayne won a US Club National title. 

 

Former head coach of the Harper College women's team (2000-2017), Dwayne led the Lady Hawks to the National Junior College Tournament in 2002, 2010 and 2012. In his 26 years of coaching, Dwayne has helped over 100 players advance on to play at the college level.  

 

Recently, Dwayne obtained two presidents cup state titles. One of them leading to a Presidents Cup National Title with his u15 girls at Arlington Aces. He took over this team at u10 in 2012 and has shown that his philosophy of long term player development continues to work. Dwayne is in search for a back to back national title this upcoming summer.

Gabe Garcia

Boys Director

 

Gabe grew up in Wheeling, started his playing career at the age of 4 at the Wheeling Park District. He transitioned and played club for Wheeling Soccer Club from 1st to 8th grade. He then played for Wheeling High School and FC United during his high school career. Gabe went on and played and graduated from Robert Morris University. During his time at Robert Morris he obtained the award of most improved player, going from 0 points on the stat sheets in his first 4 games to ending the season leading the team in assists. 

 

Gabe started his coaching career while playing for Robert Morris. He started as a volunteer at the Wheeling Park District and in 2012 joined Dwayne at Arlington Aces and together helped start Wheeling Soccer Academy a year later. 

 

Gabe currently is the boys director at Aces and WSA, he also coaches for the girls soccer program at Wheeling High School and is the Harper Women’s Soccer Assistant. 

 

Gabe aspires to help develop the best players in the state and with his passion and commitment to the game he is on his way to reach that goal.

Mikey Salgado

Coach 

 

Mikey grew up in Wheeling, started his playing career at 9 Years old at the Wheeling Park District. Transitioned to a local club where he played through freshman year of high school. He then finished his career playing at Wheeling High school through 2009. 

 

Mikey started his coaching career in 2014 at the Wheeling Park district. He then joined Dwayne and Gabe in 2015 at Wheeling Soccer Academy. 

 

Mikey currently coaches for Wheeling Soccer Academy and Arlington Aces. 

 

Mikey aspires to give back to local talent in the community. And give them a one of a kind experience through his passion and love for the game.
